Just been sent an appointment for this
I cant work.
This feels rediculous
What can I expect at one?

Jenni, I have no idea. I'm sure Rich will know. It is such a pointless exercise both for you and the staff, cant they find something useful to do? I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, they will realise this and leave you alone. Try not to get too stressed xBARBARA

I lifted the following quote from the moneysavingexpert site. It was from a woman who had just had the interview for employment and support allowance. It suggests that when someone is genuinely unable to work this will be recognised and respected.
"I had to attend these and to be honest, they were a total waste of time. I met with a very nice lady and we tended to discuss what was hot in the news that day, losing weight as you get older, merits of walking against gym membership etc etc. I can honestly say that at no point did we discuss anything to do with work!! She understood that I was unable to work at present so didn't push it at all."
Best wishes and I hope this is reassuring. Please let us know how it goes as this is so relevant to many people on this forum.

How annoying and stressful for you to be lumbered with this.
If these people knew anything about your illness they would know it is not possible for you to work.
Try not to worry too much.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Now you are going to be stressed which is the last thing you need.
I could rant on for hours on this but I am sure you think the same as I do. Something needs to change ...............

Im going to go in tomorrow and will see how things are.
Michael is off college tomorrow and so I will show him the grim realities of the other side of the Job Centre and he needs a nice solid job that he needs to get through college to achieve not being sent to the crappy jobs in there...
Could have some pay off after all.

sorry i haven't been about Jenni :( Sorry to hear you are stressed with this .. remember that they cannot (at present) force you to apply for jobs ..and i am afraid it is just another hoop to jump through .Companies now get paid to get you into work ..and if you remain in work then they get more money . £14K i believe for a disabled person who remains in work for two years . Failing to attend one can mean your benefits stopped , so do not chance this . How did it go ? did they defer you ? Hi all Officially completed 'interview' but good grief it was depressing! They were very clear that I wouldnt need to be seen for another 3 yes and next time can do a home visit. Really felt scrap heap material by the end.... I did ask more info about the ESA and apparently I will be called at some time between now and 2014 but she made a lot of notes. With my carers etc I have quite a bit of evidence and would qualify for the group on points strongly. The Medicals are sometimes very suss I think, the lady at the job centre thinks I might not need one? Anyway it went fine. Just a waste of time and you get all worried that they will stop my incapacity as although I'm poorly and clearly disabled my brains are ok and if I had half a choice would be in work....
